Types of home insurance.

As we said, home insurance is complex. So let’s break it down to the four basic policy types.

The Basic Home Insurance Policy

Protects your home and belongings against 16 perils including: natural disasters, vandalism, theft, and the weight of snow or ice. Your Insurance Advisor will refer to this coverage as HO-2 Basic Form.

The Most Common Home Insurance Policy

Covers your house, other structures on your property, your personal belongings, personal liability, and more. Your Insurance Advisor will refer to this coverage as HO-3 Special Form.

Comprehensive Home Coverage

Provides broader protection and higher coverage limits. Though it's similar to HO-3, it covers your personal belongings at replacement value. Your Insurance Advisor will refer to this as HO-5 Comprehensive Form.

Older Home Coverage

Designed for much older homes that would be almost impossible to replace if destroyed. Your Insurance Advisor will refer to this coverage as HO-8 Modified Coverage Form.

Actual Cash Value vs Replacement Cost Value

Actual Cash Value (ACV), aka market value, is based on depreciation and covers the cost to replace your property for what it's worth today, while Replacement Cost Value (RCV) helps replace your property without deducting for depreciation.

Keeping your home safe.
